Conformed in 1995, this duet of guitars, integrated by Marcelo Fernández and Rubén Russo, interprets its own masterpieces in argentinian contemporary language. These masterpieces, which in their majority are of shape (prelude and fugue, sonata and suite) tend to present rhythms of Argentinian and Uruguayan folk music. All these consist of a variety of hue and characters/ style/ genre, rich in harmony as well as in counterpoints and polyrhythms.
Both are Professors of Classical Guitar, from the Conservatory of Music in Morón, Buenos Aires; and Fernández is a graduated Superior Professor of Composition at this Conservatory, too. Russo also studied in the School of Popular Music in Avellaneda, Buenos Aires. Fernández - Russo guitar courses have been held with Eduardo Isaac, Eduardo Fernández, Dolores Costoyas, Juan Falu, Jorge Mazaet, Roberto Calvo, Javier Cohen, Guillermo Diaz and Gustavo Nasuti . Fernandez has presented his pieces of work in Colon Theatre ,Argentina and in EEUU. Russo also played at The Foundation Argentina in the University Center in Paris; Odin Theatre in Holstebró Denmark, University of Musicology in Bremen; in a meeting of Europe Union in Luxemburg; Cervantes Institute in Hamburg; Schiller Theatre Place Royale, Utrecht, Holland, among others, during 2006 and 2007. They gave concerts together with the “Haydn Quartet” (solo musicians of the Colón Theatre`s Orchestra and the Argentinian National Symphony). Both have been invited, in several opportunities, to participate in the International Festival "Guitars of the World" organized by the Master Juan Falú and the National Direction of Culture, Argentina , highlighting the participation of 2010 and 2013 in the National Library. This duo has given numerous concerts in various halls, museums, theaters, music conservatories and universities of Argentina and different countries in Europe. Marcelo and Rubén work as professors in Conservatories of Music dependent from the General Direction of Culture and Education, Argentina, and they have obtained this post by contests of merit and background information. The duo has presented his CD "Infinite Moments" in concerts in theaters, cultural centers, universities and music academies in cities of Belgium, Holland, Denmark, Sweden and Germany during May and June 2011, among which are: Institute Cervantes and Schiller Theater in Utrecht (Netherlands), Musicology University of Bremen (Germany), Academy of Music in Waterloo (Belgium) and Tranemo (Sweden), monastery of Ystad (Sweden) under Fritiden 2011. In october 2012, sponsored by the Argentinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, they made a tour of concerts and classes in Scandinavia:Music School and Cultural Center in Borlange - Sweden(Se), Music School of Oslo - Norway(No), Music School of Herning - Danmark(Dk), Odin Theater in Holstebro (Dk), Our Lady's Church- s.XII Svendborg (Dk), and Theaters of Hoerdum (Dk), and Tranemo (Se). The dúo have been part of the group of teachers and concertists of the XVI Guitar International Week, "Regino Sainz de la Maza" in Burgos, Spain, August 2013. October- November 2014 –Göteborg, Sweden and concerts in Svendborg and Herning (Dk), tour with recognition of the Argentinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. March 2015 concert in San Antonio de Padua church (Bs As. Arg.) with Povl Balslev (organ-Denmark) music of Fernández for organ and two guitars. They have invitations to participate in guitar´s festivals in Spain for 2016.
